Advanced Photoshop Class
Katura and I are taking an Advanced Photoshop class today, taught by Frank Ippolito (http://www.productionpost.com/home.htm). One of techniques that he covered was using a layer mask to use your sketch as a texture in a finished, and now colored version, of your drawing. This image is my colored version of a sketch Frank provided for us to practice with. The day is grey and rainy, which matches the tone of my drawing.
Hi GNSI
This entry is a part of my presentation on New Media Publishing to The Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (http://www.gnsi.org/) at our annual national conference.
Russell’s Default Stegosaurus
My friend Russell gave a talk this morning on Plants of the Permotriassic. He is todays guest illustrator. This ‘default stenosaurus’ is what he started to doodle on the blackboard while we waited for the projector to start working. While he was drawing he gave us a hilarious rundown of paleontology stand-up.

While drawing this, I'm enjoying a grilled vegetable quesadilla from the Patty Pan Grill tent. It's full of fresh crunch green vegetables, including pretty marbled squash. I'm listening to live folk music played by Clallam County (http://sites.google.com/site/clallamcounty/home). It's a lively community gathering. And now that Mary has joined me, I think I'm going to commandeer myself some Earl Grey Chocolate ice cream.
And then they went home…
This one is for you, Jonas. A new feature! Narrative Continuity. 🙂
