It's Valentines Day and I decided to bake cookies for my husband, Arthur. Linzer cookies are everywhere right now. The cafes and grocery stores in town are full of heart-shaped, jelly-filled, red and white cookies. Now, that's sweet, but my honey likes maple. It's his favorite form of sugar. So for him, I made a twist on the usual Linzer cookies, and made
Maple Linzer Cookies…
3c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 c butter
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 c maple syrup Maple Filling
Maple cream blended with a little red food coloring. Chill dough. Roll and cut. Re-chill. Bake ~15min at 325. Cool to room temp. Layer with filling. Santa Cruz, CA 2/14/13
